To conquer that, I have a pair of noise-reducing headphones, and I listen primarily to lyric-free music. Just a bit of noise to keep me focused. I sit at my desk, but I suspect that I’ll be converting to a standing desk soon because I don’t want to die early. I also tend to keep some snacks (nuts) and beverages around my desk so that food and water don’t lower my focus threshold. Though there’s one big anomaly here: I’m not working in an office with that many people in it. I don’t have a lot of meetings to take. I’m not managing anyone right now. For that though, I suggest consolidating all meetings into the afternoon and make them back to back. That way, you’re getting them out of the way and you have solid, long blocks of time to focus on getting things done.”

- How to Rebuild Your Attention Span and Focus

The Story of the Cheese Maze

The Story of the Cheese Maze

Transitional Interfaces — Design/UX — Medium

Transitional Interfaces — Design/UX — Medium

Teens aren’t abandoning “social.” They’re just using the word correctly. — Understandings & Epiphanies — Medium

Teens aren’t abandoning “social.” They’re just using the word correctly. — Understandings & Epiphanies — Medium

Is that a sonic screwdriver in your pocket or are you just happy...

Is that a sonic screwdriver in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

On raising children with your religion. what’s gone is gone,
but at night it’s different.
Nothing gets finished,
not dying, not mourning;
the dead repeat themselves, like clumsy drunks
lurching sideways through the doors
we open them in sleep;
these slurred guests, never entirely welcome,
even those we have loved the most,
especially those we have loved the most,
returning from where we shoved them
away too quickly:
from the ground, from the water,
they clutch at us, they clutch at us,
we won’t let go.”

- Margaret Atwood, from “Two Dreams, 2” in Eating Fire: Selected Poetry, 1965-1995 (Virago, 1998) (via apoetreflects)

As economy recovers, the richest get richer, study shows

As economy recovers, the richest get richer, study shows

No more web projects

No more web projects

New Post: Owning Your Cloud Data - Data Ownership on the Web Part 2

New Post: Owning Your Cloud Data - Data Ownership on the Web Part 2

Superman and the telephone booth

Superman and the telephone booth

Its not a web app, its an app you install from the web

Its not a web app, its an app you install from the web

John Cleese on the 5 Factors to Make Your Life More Creative

John Cleese on the 5 Factors to Make Your Life More Creative

My first post at Medium: I am burning out

My first post at Medium: I am burning out

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal

Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
